THE WALL TREATMENT

We painted the walls as groundcloths. To disguise the seams, we papered and jacksan’d over the seams. The texture was scheived with jaxsan and corncob, tinted with raw sienna. After sprays and aging finishes, the groundclothes were then attached to the walls on stage, stretched taut. Final elements like moss, mold, additional aging, torn away ‘paper’ (to look like cracking plaster) and vines were applied after the walls were fully faced.

WALL ADHESION PROCESS

(most) walls were laid flat. on 1/2 the wall, we applied glue, folded the groundcloth over the glue, pulled tight, and stapled down. We repeated the process on the other 1/2. For walls with arches and windows, we let the glue cure, the cut away the parts of the wall that was over the arch or window.

THE PROSCENIUM

Words were achieved by printing out words, adhering, and using glazes to achieve the marble look.

THE DECK

Scraped tinted Jaxsan onto the flooring, then brushed on a variety of grey glazes, followed by an umber glaze. After a final paynes or burnt sienna glaze, we then did a final scraped glaze. In the grout, we glued moss and dirt.
